Objective To understand the research status, hotspots, and frontiers in the field of tumor-associated venous thromboembolism (TAVTE), so as to provide a reference for domestic scholars to conduct relevant research in the field of TAVTE. Methods The literature on TAVTE research published from January 1, 2013 to June 30, 2022 was searched in CNKI. CiteSpace 6.1.R2 software was used to perform keyword co-occurrence analysis, cluster analysis, timeline analysis, and emergence analysis. Results From 2013 to 2022, the total number of published papers in the field of TAVTE was 4,509. Excluding 2022 (incomplete inclusion), since 2013, the annual number of published papers in the field of TAVTE had shown an overall trend of increasing year by year. The main publishing institutions in the field of TAVTE were concentrated in universities and their affiliated hospitals, among which Jilin University had the largest number of published papers; the team centered on Li Hui had the largest number of published papers; the research hotspots mainly focused on risk factors, nursing, complications, and prevention of TAVTE; patients with lung cancer, gynecological tumors, and breast cancer were the main research subjects, and those with oral cancer, liver cancer, ovarian cancer, and esophageal cancer had also been receiving increasing attention. The longest-lasting keyword was lung cancer, which had been a research hotspot from 2013 to that day; the latest keyword was physical prevention; the TAVTE risk prediction model had received more attention since 2020. Conclusion TAVTE research has been a hotspot of concern for scholars in China, but problems, such as less collaboration among author teams and scattered cooperation among institutions, still exist. The research focuses on the risk factors, nursing, complications, and prevention of TAVTE, the main research subjects are patients with lung cancer, gynecologic tumors, and breast cancer, and the cutting-edge research focuses on the physical prevention and prediction models.
